![]() Hey, not sure how I missed your previous reply, but I did. I just wanted to turn it into a 'simple MIDI recorder/playback' which apparently, isn't so simple. I can record/playback/process instruments just fine using all the other features of logic. I may just need to putz with it - I thought there would have been a much simpler solution. Out 1 and 2 from the C8p go to A and B on the SC-880, Out 3 goes to the D-50, from the C8p. There must be something in the interface mapping in the Mac OS that needs to be changed, if there is nothing 'global' that can be done in Logic. If I use internal instruments in Logic, everything works as assigned, even if I have my gear set up as described. Nothing about the mapping has changed since I was using Cakewalk on a PC, other than the MIDI interface (basic 1 In - 1 out from a gameport interface) and I could just globally turn off local/echo in that config in Cakewalk. In (A) on the MIDISort 2x2 comes from out 4 (of 4 "Outs") on the C8p, and Out (A) on the MIDISport 2x2 goes to In 1 (of 2 "Ins"). I have Dave's excellent book, and have read thru the Logic documentation also, but I guess I don't "get it." Is it environment settings? My MIDI interface is a MIDISport 2x2 USB on an iMac.Īs mentioned in the last line, the MIDI interface is a MIDISport 2x2. Let's pretend that there are NO internal instruments, and we need 'pure' non-echoed instruments that are played/recorded on their own tracks that are input on. I realize that there may be more info needed. 10 on my rack gear) in Logic, it wants to play piano too, and I get stuck notes, etc. When I fire up a drum patch (that originates in Ch. ![]() All my mappings/routings/patches are fine among my gear - instruments are routed and working fine outside Logic. If I start a new project that uses ONLY external MIDI, I'm overwhelmed by the the procedures that I need to do (I'm old school). When I used Cakewalk it was really easy to turn 'echo off'. I'm using Logic Express 8 and I have a Peavey C8P as a master controller and some rack gear (SC-880, Roland D-50) etc.
